In-Clinic Diagnostics

The in-house laboratory at The Pet Doctor provides pet owners with on-site laboratory diagnostics for companion pets. We can process a number of test results on site, typically within 30 minutes. This is especially beneficial for critical illness and injury cases that need prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Some health conditions may not be obvious during an external examination. For this reason, we conduct in-house diagnostic tests to get an accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. At The Pet Doctor, we recommend regular diagnostic testing so that our veterinarians will have baseline information about your pet. Having a history of test results lets us know if there is a significant change that indicates an underlying condition or disease.

Our array of in-house diagnostic testing includes fecal, CBC, chemistry panels, heartworm tests, parvovirus testing as well as tests for tick borne diseases, thyroid, and FELV/FIV. Specialty tests, allergy tests, and histopathology specimens are sent to an outside lab.

We conduct our annual wellness diagnostic tests in house, and we recommend blood tests prior to each surgery to screen our patients for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic.
